Why would Dick’s Sporting Goods need an app? They already have a very good mobile site designed for smartphone browsers, as well as their regular website, what more could an app accomplish that hasn’t been done so already? Better product viewing, easier searching of products, access to the Dick’s facebook page, easy access to Dick’s mobile clearance page, were some of the answers. The goal was to not only use what Dick’s had existing and making it quicker to access, such as their Facebook and mobile site, but to improve on some key things that customers would want to see.
Realizing that this app would be used weekly or monthly and that most people shopping at Dick’s knew what they wanted before entering a store, the app needed to assist that. Maybe the users want to know if any mouthguards or other equipment were on clearance, or if there were special events listed on Facebook, they now have quick access to that and more.

This Android application was built for the McDonald’s Fast Food Chain. One of the developers in our Android team (Mike) loves the McDonald’s. He tried searching for an application in the Android Market Place to help him view the menu at McDonald’s & also to find out the nearest McDonald’s store. Mike ended up developing an application that would help him and thousands of other McDonald’s fans.

Flashquiz is an Android application intended as a study guide for college students and their friends. It allows the user to create, save, and study customized sets of “flash” cards. Flashcards, physical or virtual, are proven to be a strong way to digest academic information. Adding a social network allows a group of friends sharing the same class to split the labor of creating cards for each other, and the simple competitive spirit that comes from being able to track each other’s high scores helps to encourage thorough studying.
There are two types of cards that can be created. The first is a traditional double-sided flashcard, appropriate for memorizing glossaries of terms with the term on one side and the definition on the other side. The second is a “quiz” card, with a question and up to four multiple-choice answers. In the application, these cards are created in card sets, which in turn can be grouped by the user for simple organization. Cards can be shared quickly and easily between friends who know one another’s usernames. The application even keeps track of your and your friends’ high scores for each card set.

Astor, a developer in our team loves beaches. He wanted to develop an application for his favorite resort – The Grand Strand Resorts, South Carolina.
The planning that goes behind a trip to the resort like – what hotel to stay at, what activities are around that I can do, what are the more popular dishes in the resort area, what kind of live entertainment is around the resort area, and how should I travel by – have all been captured by the application.
